Traffic lights to be put up at ‘dangerous intersection’

Today (Wednesday), the Eindhoven Municipality started work on making the De Wal-Bilderdijklaan junction safer. Traffic lights will be placed there.

At the end of 2017, Bilderdijklaan was refurbished into a street with more green space and a fast bike route. But, since then, several accidents have taken place. Especially cyclists complain about the safety of the cross-over with De Wal. In early 2018, a cyclist died on the crossroads, when she was hit by a car.

The work consists of removing the threshold for the crossing, placing lights, and applying new road marks. According to the Municipality, the traffic there is little affected. However, Bilderdijklaan will be closed on Saturdays. This does not apply to De Wal and PC Hooftlaan. Traffic controllers will be used there.

If weather conditions are good, the traffic lights will be functional from the end of January.
