PSV leads, but match marred by incident

PSV is winter champion, now the first part of the Dutch football competition finished. Eindhoven’s football club won from AZ with 3-1, at Eindhoven’s Philips Stadium, Saturday evening.

PSV did not play extremely brilliantly. AZ, on the other hand, was eager to score.

AZ managed to score within the first fifteen minutes of the match. Bergwijn scored after Lozano missed, just before the break.

Sadilek scored immediately after the break. Just before the important match finished, Lozano also scored, using a penalty. Now PSV leads after seventeen matches.

PSV-AZ match marred by shooting

Shortly after the start of the PSV – AZ match, shots were fired outside the Philips stadium. Two people were injured.

The incident happened shortly after 20.00 hours, at café “De Aftrap”, along the Vonderweg. According to a photographer who witnessed the incident, bullet casings and blood covered the street.

Two policemen gave first aid to the victim and managed to stop the bleeding. The victim is a 23-year-old man from Eindhoven. Police later stated, this victim was taken to hospital by ambulance

The other victim was treated on the spot. The café was evacuated. Police stated this went smoothly.

A criminal investigation team closed the area around the pub for members of the public. The pub remained closed Sunday.

The café is usually fairly quiet during matches. Crowds during matches consist of supporters who cannot or may not enter the stadium.

Police noted down names of all persons who were at the pub. Their accounts were jotted down. Police is now also asking other witnesses to come forward.
