Bill Pendell will be buried on December 20 in Stanford in the Vale, his home town. A delegation from Eindhoven’s Stichting 18 September will attend the funeral.
The delegation will take a book full of condolence-messages with them. The messages were left on the Stichting’s website. Others were posted using the foundation’s Facebook page. All collected messages will be handed to Pendell’s family in England
Bill Pendell, who helped liberate the city, will also be commemorated in Eindhoven. On 24 December, Christmas Eve, candles will be lit on all Allied graves at local cemetery Oude Toren.
This ceremony takes place for the first time this year. Candles will be lit for Bill Pendell and Ken Thiis, who died earlier this year. Secondary school students will assist in lighting these candles.
