The ChristenUnie (CU) in Eindhoven has submitted a petition to reopen Ryanair’s base at Eindhoven Airport.

The political party wants the Eindhoven Municipality to impose additional requirements on airlines if they’re going to use the airport as a base. The Eindhoven Municipality is an Eindhoven Airport shareholder. CU thinks that the Municipality of Eindhoven should not give in to the pressure of airlines that do not respect the conditions of employment applicable in the Netherlands.

As is known, Ryanair has closed its base in Eindhoven. No Irish aircraft are parked at the airport anymore. As a result, pilots working in Eindhoven were moved to other Ryanair locations. The pilots then filed a lawsuit, and the judge agreed with the pilots. Yet, Ryanair decided to close the base in Eindhoven and put the pilots out on the street.
