Eindhoven student fastest cyclist in the world

Lieke de Cock from Eindhoven is the fastest cyclist in the world. She won the world championship for speed-cycling by cycling through the American Nevada desert at 120 kilometers per hour.

The recumbent bike she rode is the VeloX 8. It was built by a Dutch student team. This high-tech bicycle was designed by students from the TU Delft and Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam.

The team participated in the World Human Powered Speed Challenge. This is an international competition. Fast aerodynamic bikes and top athletes compete to realize the highest speed.

Of two Dutch female competitors, one achieved first and the other one second place in the 2018 competition.
