Kazerne must become global design hotspot

De Kazerne in Paradijslaan in Eindhoven must become an international hotspot of  “Dutch design”. The Provincial Government has granted a loan of EUR 750 000 for this purpose.

The loan is earmarked for the Stichting ter behoed van Kein Paradijs (Foundation for the Conservation of Klein Paradijs). It is to be used to take the former marechausseekazerne (military constabulary barracks) in Eindhoven to new heights; to transform it into the design hotspot.

The plan is that design talents can display their work at the Kazerne throughout the year. The money must also be used to expansion, with more guesthouses, a second restaurant, a design shop and a society.

This investment is the result of the commitment the Executive Council made to the Eindhoven municipality last year. In return, the region must invest in top culture, top design, top industry and top education.

Bank financing was not an option, since the Foundation does not own the property.
