A first, closed, meeting about the merger of Nuenen is planned at the Provincial House in Den Bosch for 28 August.
The Provincial States are shifting to a higher gear. Last month it seized control from the Nuenen Town Council, who wanted more time to make a decision regarding a merger with either Eindhoven or Son en Breugel. But the Provincial authorities decided they took too long. Besides, the Nuenen council was very divided amongst itself. So, a decision was not forthcoming.
The council protested the intervention by the Province unanimously. Whether Nuenen will accept the invitation, a spokesperson could not say. Both the council as well as the registry are on summer recess.
