Vershal Het Veem gets new Albert Heijn supermarket

A new Albert Heijn Urban will open in Eindhoven’s Vershal Het Veem at the end of the year.

Albert Heijn’s ‘Urban’ stores are a new concept. “It’s bigger than the AH To Go, but not as big as an ordinary supermarket”, said a spokesman for Sint Trudo, which owns Vershal Het Veem. “Where you’ll usually see a choice of up to ten brands for one product, Urban stores may offer two”, the spokesman added.

The spokesman also said Sint Trudo welcomed the new store. “People often have to go to the supermarket after a visit [to the food hall], but that’s not the case anymore. It’s all under one roof.”

The food hall will also change its opening hours to coincide with the opening of the new store. From the end of the year, Vershal Het Veem will be open from 8am to 8pm. Opening hours for the Albert Heijn itself are not yet known.

Eindhoven’s AH Urban will be the second store of its kind. The first opening in Amsterdam in early 2017.
