The Council started with work changing the layout of the Vestdijk and surrounding areas today. Multiple parts of the city are, therefore, temporarily closed.
The changes are also temporary in order to see what impact it will have. The results will be included in the final design for the changes that will be implemented in the future. This measure is being taken to improve the air quality in part of the city centre, especially in the Vestdijk.
Today Kanaaldijk-Zuid up to Havenstraat is closed for vehicles. After the changes are made, you will no longer be able to turn left into Havenstraat. Geldropseweg is also closed to traffic in both directions. Thereafter, Geldropseweg will be a one way street in the direction of Stratumsedijk.
From tomorrow, Hertogstraat will be closed. After the adjustment, Hertogstraat (between Stratumsedijk and the Hertog Hendrik van Brabantplein) will also only be for one-way traffic in the direction of Vestdijk.
On Wednesday and Monday, 29 May, Vestdijk will be closed in both directions for all traffic. After the changes have been made, there will only be one lane available. The bus lane will, however, stay open.
