A 30-year-old man from Eindhoven has to spend four years in jail for transporting and possession of cocaine. The court has determined that yesterday.
In addition to jail time, the man does not get a large sum of money returned. Almost 170,000 euros were found in his home. That money was laundered.
The police arrested the accused in June last year when he was found driving a scooter without a helmet in a pedestrian zone in the centre of Eindhoven. Because he could not show identification, a police officer went along with his proposal to look inside the bag of the suspect out of sight of public. At that moment. the suspect dropped his bag and tried to escape, but he was arrested after a short chase.
In the bag, police found nearly 23 kilos of cocaine. Then, another 11 kilos of cocaine, and a lot of cash found were found in his home.
The girlfriend of the suspect was staying in the house where the drugs and the money were found. According to the court, there is no evidence that she knew drugs and money were present or that her friend transported drugs. She is therefore acquitted of involvement in the offenses.
