Personal financial contribution should not lead to avoiding healthcare

Political party Ouderen Appèl Eindhoven states that the public’s personal financial contributions to healthcare should not lead to an avoidance of necessary healthcare. Research shows 25% of people are doing just that.

The parliamentary party’s chairman Dré Rennenberg says that if people decline healthcare also could disappear from the radar of healthcare institutions. That leads to all sorts of problems.

The party wants more clarity about this problem in Eindhoven. Rennenberg asks if the executive board of the city knows how high this percentage is of people not being able to afford healthcare due to the mandatory contribution. "In many cases there is a problem of personal financial shortcomings that leads to people not seeking medical care.

The contribution serves as a barrier that keeps them from doing so."
