Police ‘undercover’, group of youngsters caught

Strong increase in burglaries in student homes

A couple of police constables went ‘undercover’ two weeks ago as buurtpreventie (neighbourhood watch), to be able to catch a group of hangjongeren (loitering youth) in the act. The young persons had harassed and intimidated the real members of the prevention team, according to het Eindhovens Dagblad.

A group of youngsters between thirteen and fifteen years old had thrown bottles at the members of the prevention team and had cursed them, intimidated the members including following members home.

To find the culprits, a couple of police constables, decided to go undercover. Out of uniform and wearing the yellow vests of the prevention team were similarly attacked by the young persons. Only this time they could be arrested. However because the boys are too young to be prosecuted, they will be placed on a coaching and support track together with their parents, police, schools and WijEindhoven.
