German Chancellor Merkel is visiting the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven and chip machine manufacturer ASML in Veldhoven today.
The visit is part of a large government policy between Germany and the Netherlands in the light of innovation. That is why the high-tech region of Eindhoven was chosen.
Merkel is accompanied by Prime Minister Rutte, Ministers Koenders and Kamp and the German Ministers of Education, Foreign Affairs and Economic Affairs. Mayor Van Gijzel received all the ministers at the High Tech Campus. A joint meeting and working dinner is planned.
The German chancellor also visited ASML. The chip machine manufacturer in Veldhoven works closely together with Zeiss, German manufacturer of lenses.
A lot of security forces were around on stand-by.
