Start building new Frits Philips Lyceum

On Friday the construction of the new Frits Philips Lyceum at the Avignonlaan in Eindhoven will start. The launch for the construction is given by the brothers Fritz and Anton Philips, the sons of the former director of Philips and after whom the school is named.

In December last year the Eindhoven city council agreed with the construction of the Frits Philips lyceum secondary school. The school will cover an area of 11.000 square meters, with an additional sports hall. The building has a capacity for 1.650 students.

The Frits Philips Lyceum originated from a merger between the Bischop Bekkers Lyceum and the location Broodberglaan of the Christiaan Huygens College. According to the schools the merger creates a wider range of programs. The school will be a so-called Brainport school and offers four talent profiles: Culture. Entrepreneurship, Science and Sport. The school will work closely with companies. The Sports profile will cooperate with, among others, football coaches of PSV and Oranje -Zwart (hockey).

Wijnen Bouw from Someren is responsible for the construction job. The school will be opened after the summer holidays next year.
