A cleanup of the Dommel will be held on Saturday in Eindhoven. Litter will be removed from the river.
Waterschap De Dommel wants to draw attention to the pollution of the sea with this activity. A lot of litter pollutes the sea through ditches, rivulets and streams. They emerge as huge mountains of floating debris in the ocean, also known as ‘plastic soup’.
On Saturday plastic bottles, containers and other debris are removed from the Dommel, between Genneper Watermill and the Van Abbemuseum. Employees of the Waterschap (Body of surveyors of dikes) and a group of Eindhoven residents join the action.
The Dommel is also cleaned in St. Michielsgestel.
