During the New Year’s reception of PSV coach Phillip Cocu signed his contract extension live on stage. With the new contract the trainer continues his relation with the club until the summer of 2019.
Signing Cocu
Technical Director Marcel Brands and Cocu had already agreed orally, but PSV liked the idea to have them sign in front of the 1000 fans who had come to the New Year reception. So did the fans. The signing was greeted with great applause.
Signing Brands
Whether Brands himself will extend his contract is not commented on. Gebrands (General Manager) himself mentioned the item. Brands remained vague. "From the three of us I am here the longest period" he said to Gebrands and Cocu, and added that he was extremely happy at PSV.
Willems
The Summer runs relatively quiet for Marcel Brands. A great talent from Peru came over to Eindhoven, but that was it in terms of players. It seems to be a quiet summer, and Brands does not mind that. "We want to keep this group together."
Brands therefore focuses on the extension of contracts. Cocu has already signed. Willems is the next step for Brands.
"I didn’t bother him during his rehabilitation. But now he is as good as fit, so I obviously hope to keep him tied to PSV a bit longer.
