Graduates of TU/e put footprint in glass

Literally leaving your footprint behind. It may soon happen on the campus of the TU/e. The plan is, for the graduates, to leave their footprint in the glass walkway between Metaforum and Matrix.

The first possibility will be at the end of April, during the three day festival of Dream & Dare, the 60-year anniversary celebrations of the university.

This idea is something like the "Sweat Room", the famous room in the Academy Building of Leiden University where graduates for decades are allowed to put their signature on one of the walls. Among others, Princess Beatrix, King Willem-Willem- Alexander and ‘Soldier of Oranje’ Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema are among the alumni who left their lasting mark here.

The TU/e also felt the need for such a tradition, says Engineering Dean Elphi Nelissen, President of TU/e’s jubilee committee. "We want the connection between the university and our alumni to have a physical form so that it is not lost after graduating from the university."
