New buildings should enhance Woensel West image

There will be two news buildings opened in Woensel West on Edisonstraat. The buildings, De Baeken and Gezellenhuis have been renovated and should constitute an important step towards a new image of the previously run down Woensel West.

Four years ago Trudo housing corporation organized a contest for creating special designs for the buildings on Edisonstraat. Winner Bas Termeer has now seen his drawings on De Baeken become reality. There are two types of studios in the building that can be rented as a hotel room, or a studio for a short stay.

The Gezellenhuis has been here since 1930, but is now completely renovated. The building includes a hotel, as well as a florist, restaurant, hairdresser and the largest vintage shop in Eindhoven.

Although much has changed in Edisonstraat, it is according to Trudo, still a place many Eindhoven residents are reluctant to visit as it used to be run down. They hope the newly opened buildings can draw some crowds in the months to come.
