New cooperation between NXP and MasterCard

Labour Party (PvdA) not happy with 428 mil for CEO NXP after takeover

The Eindhoven based chip manufacturer, NXP, is going to cooperate with MasterCard. The goal is to enable payments via all devices that are connected to internet. NXP will deliver the technology to make this possible. This information appears in a joint press release, issued by both companies, yesterday.

The devices, or rather the communication chips in the devices, should be well-protected. This will be delivered by NXP.

NXP is not the only company supplying chips to MasterCard. Another supplier is Qualcomm, known for the memory chips in telephones. Qualcomm will also supply MasterCard with chips for the new payment devices.

The first devices should be available to customers in the US, by next year.
