Smart Classics: concert with mobile on rather than off

The South Netherlands Philharmonic and Muziekgebouw will soon present a new kind of concert experience.

Instead of turning your cell phone off, as is required at all concerts, you can have your phone switched on with this new initiative. There is a special app that has been developed called ‘Wolfgang’ to help people better understand classical music.

While listening to the music, you can follow the course of the piece on your mobile. In short sentences, there is a brief description of what happens at that point in the music. This way, the concert visitor is even more involved in the music.

This new concert form will be introduced on Saturday, October 3rd for the first time to accompany a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
