Number of Eindhoven unemployment benefits decreases

The total number of unemployment benefits in the city of Eindhoven has decreased for the first time in April this year.

The number of welfare benefits, however, is still increasing.

According to Alderman Staff Deep this is because ‘the nature of the jobs in Eindhoven not always suits the training of the people looking for work in the city’.

To counter the increase in welfare benefits the municipality has devised a number of measures to allow more flexible employment possibilities. For example, temporary work through an employment agency. Formerly people receiving welfare benefits, again and again had to submit a request for assistance. Now the municipality can temporary ‘block’ the benefit.
