“Less street trading soft drugs by releasing i-criterion”

The sale of marijuana in the street is as good as gone, now foreigners may buy weed in coffee shops in Eindhoven again. According to the ‘Vereniging Coffeeshophouders Eindhoven’ (coffee shop holders association).

Last month, Mayor Van Gijzel abolished the so called residents criterion. Thence only Dutch could buy a joint in the coffee shop, in recent years, after showing identification.
The regulation only provoked the illegal trade in the street according to Van Gijzel and the nuisance doubled by the street trade.

It concerns a six months trial. After which is considered whether foreigners will finally be able to buy cannabis in Eindhoven coffee shops again.
