Second edition RainbowRun040 bigger

The second edition of the RainbowRun040 is going to be an even bigger event than last year. This year, on 20 June, 7,500 runners will be able to take part, instead of the 5,000 participants in 2014.

The course is more exciting as well. This time the High Tech Campus, the smartest square kilometre in the region, is included. Furthermore, there are more places where the runners will be sprinkled with coloured powder.

RainbowRun040 wants to draw attention to ALS, the motor neurone disease affecting the muscles. All proceeds, sponsorship funds and entry fees will be dedicated almost entirely to scientific research into this disease.

Last year the RainbowRun raised 100,000 euros. The reason for organizing this Run was Hein Van Duivenboden, an ambassor for ALS, who was suffering from the disease himself. Unfortunately, he died on 8 December last year. His death was the main reason for the organization to continue and organize another Run.

According to Marjolijn Uringa, spokeswoman for the event, the first 1,000 runners have registered. For more information about the Run, surf to www.rainbowrun040.nl.
