Smoke detector turns Philips lights red

Philips Hue teams up with Google Nest. Google Nest has developed a smoke detector which can be linked to the lamps of Philips Hue.

The smoke detector makes the lamps flash red as soon as it observes smoke or fire. It is part of "Works with Nest ‘. This is a collaboration of different devices in the home.

Nest can also detect whether the residents are at home or not. This allows for example the thermostat to indicate the refrigerator to switch to eco-mode. Nest can also make an automatic emergency phone call when fire threatens.

Google is going to collaborate with fifteen new companies, including LG and Whirlpool. The program has been available since June last year and 5,000 developers now work with Nest.
