Fireworks ‘criminals’ are getting younger and younger

According to Bureau Halt, the first figures indicate that people who were caught illegally possessing and lighting fireworks on New Year’s Eve, are, on average, much younger than before.

On the previous New Year’s Eve, the culprits were mainly fourteen or fifteen years old, but last Wednesday more 12- and 13-year-olds were fined. At this turn of the year 42 juvenile offenders were sent to Bureau Halt.

Most youngsters were caught discharging fireworks outside the designated time periods. The other 17 offenders were in the possession of illegal firecrackers.

Compared to previous years, this year’s celebrations were relatively quiet though.
