Catharina Hospital is offering free HIV-testing to everyone this week. Testing is done by taking a rapid test, which is a simple finger prick, and results are available in 15 minutes. Professional counselling is also available if necessary.
The rapid HIV-testing at the Catharina Hospital is part of the European HIV-testing Week that takes place from 21 to 28 November. Four out of ten people are not aware that they are carrying the virus. The rapid test can be taken anonymously, which should lower the threshold.
It is necessary to make an appointment for the rapid HIV test. The hospital blocks caller ID in order to ensure anonymity.
Catharina hospital is one of the 25 HIV treatment centres in the Netherlands.
