‘DAF invests heavily to prevent losing market shares’

The Eindhovens Dagblad reported today that DAF is going to invest tens of millions of dollars to prevent losing ground in the international truck market.

The Eindhoven truck manufacturer is expanding a plant in Flanders substantially. This will increase DAF’s capacity to make more trucks considerably, says CEO Harrie Schippers in the ED.

Contrary to its competitors, DAF cannot build many more trucks at present. As a result of the decreasing number of trucks built by DAF, the company has lost market shares. In the first half of 2014 DAF’s profits declined by thirteen percent to somewhat more than110 million euros.
