A50 Eindhoven-Oss closed for road works

People who want to travel from Eindhoven to Oss or vice versa in the next few weeks will have to take into account some closures and detours.

‘Rijkswaterstaat’ (the Department of Public Works) carries out major maintenance work on the motorway. In addition, the bridge near Veghel will be raised. So, several stretches of the A50 will be closed between 11 and 28 July.

The asphalt will be replaced on both carriageways between Eindhoven and Veghel. From Friday 11 July 23:00 to Saturday 19 July 23:00, the road is closed between the Ekkersrijt junction and exit 11 near Veghel, in the direction of Oss/Nijmegen. Immediately afterwards the A50 will be closed between exit 11 and the Ekkersrijt junction, in the direction of Eindhoven, until Monday 28 July 05:00.

From 28 July to 8 August, the Department of Public Works is going to raise the JJ Ewellbrug near Veghel one metre, so that larger ships (with 3 instead of 2 layers of containers) will be able to sail on the Zuid-Willemsvaart. According to the department a ship with three layers of containers will replace about 100 trucks. In the same period the lanes will be narrowed. Because of this, the motorway is closed in both directions from Friday 1 August 21:00 to Monday 4 August 6:00.

There will be several alternative routes, but considerable delays have to be taken into account. More information can be found on the site of the Department of Public Works: www.rijkswaterstaat.nl.
