The football match between PSV and Feyenoord on Sunday, 13 April, 2014 will start at 16:30 Hrs as originally planned. This was decided by the KNVB (The Royal Dutch Football Association) yesterday. The time of the match between Ajax and ADO Den Haag (The Hague) will be delayed and will also commence at 16:30 Hrs.
The decision about having both matches starting at the same time was taken by the KNVB due to the matches’ importance for the national championship title. Should Ajax win the match against ADO Den Haag and should PSV win the match against Feyenoord, the national Championship title will go to Ajax. That is why it is crucial and fair to have both matches played at the same time according to the KNVB.
Furthermore, the preservation of public order is also an important factor in this decision. The original time frames would have enabled Ajax to play at 12:30 Hrs and as a result, it would have caused unnecessary tension for Ajax fans which would have to wait long hours in order to be sure whether they have won the title or not. This would have been a situation which the Amsterdam municipality wanted to avoid.
For those exact reasons, at some point, the PSV- Feyenoord match was also going to be played at an earlier time, but eventually it was decided to keep the original time frame.
