Cohousing at Strijp R: living apart together

At Strijp R in Eindhoven people are going to live together in a very special way. The principle is called ‘cohousing’ and it comes from Denmark.

‘Cohousing’ means that each resident has a house of his own, but shares certain rooms with the other residents. For example, the bicycle shed could be shared, but also a common guest room. According to the initiators, building lots in Eindhoven will become more and more expensive and, therefore, different solutions will have to be found. Future residents are going to decide together what their neighbourhood will look like. Interested parties will be able to obtain information during an ‘open evening’ on Wednesday 29 January. At present both owner-occupied and rented houses are being offered. The exact location of this informative evening will be announced on the website www.cohousingstrijpr.nl.
