TU/e and Shell join forces

Eindhoven University of Technology will start working closely with Shell. This was the substance of today’s announcement by the TU Rector, Hans van Duijn during the opening of the academic year.

The two bodies will act in concert when it comes to conducting research. This will make Shell the largest research partner the Eindhoven University has. The Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Faculties will be involved in the partnership.

Research will be conducted into energy generation and consumption and could range from innovative methods of extracting oil to sustainable fuel consumption in diesel engines.

Shell spends 1.3 billion euros a year on research. The Netherlands has two research centres: the University of Delft already partners Shell in matters relating to research.
