Eindhoven gets an ambassador that will address youth unemployment, a small majority of the city council decided last night.
The ambassador should contact employers and insist on workplaces for unemployed youth. Also, he must ensure that more young people continue to study in order to increase their chances of finding a job or internship.Youth unemployment is rising sharply in the Eindhoven region. An estimated 4,000 young people are sitting at home without a job. Especially young people without basic qualifications and immigrants’ descendants encounter problems.In The Hague also, an ambassador for youth unemployment has already been appointed. Nationwide, it is the former parliamentarian Mirjam Sterk. She has a 50 million Euro budget to address high youth unemployment.
