Wednesday, 5 September 2012

HELMOND – Helmond is getting a spectacular new attraction. City Council agreed on the project ´Xperience World´ Tuesday evening. According to the municipality, it is going to be a crowd pleaser with a food court and an amusement arcade.

There is a lot of resistance to Xperience World in the city. An ‘Eindhovens Dagblad’ (local paper) online survey shows that most residents oppose. Opponents fear that Helmond will become ´the Las Vegas on the Zuid-Willemsvaart´ and a gambling center. Alderman Tielemans, however, states it is absolutely no gambling place, but a modern entertainment center. Xperience World will feature race simulators and other modern games.Helmond does not have much to offer to young people, says the alderman. “It is my mission to make the city center more attractive.” Source: Omroep Brabant
