Smart traffic light for trucks in Helmond

Tuesday, 19 June 2012
HELMOND – Trucks and the fire department get the green light from the city of Helmond. The city conducted tests for a year with the Freilot-system, where trucks and fire department vehicles receive a green light more quickly.

The system would improve the response time as well as lower fuel costs and it reduces pollution.  According to the fire department the system is also safer since drivers will not have to make dangerous avoidance maneuvers when the fire truck with screaming sirens and lights comes their way.  Source: Omroep Brabant
