Six bought a Rembrandt for a fraction of its value

Art historian Jan Six will be giving a lecture at van Pierre about his book ‘Rembrandt’s portrait of a young man’.

Six is an art dealer and art historian and recently published the book ‘Rembrandt’s portrait of a young man’. He wrote this after he himself discovered a painting by Rembrandt.

When he looked in the auction catalog of the auction house Christie’s, he immediately noticed a painting. He recognized it as a real Rembrandt. He bought the portrait for a fraction of its value and had it thoroughly examined. At the beginning of May, the news of the undiscovered Rembrandt came out and shortly afterwards Six’s book followed.

His book is about the discovery of the painting and the whole process around it. Six will be giving a lecture on Sunday, June 17. Interested parties can register via info@vanpiere.nl.
