Robot Pepper helps children during hospital visits

At the pediatrics polyclinic of the Maxima Medical Center, a real robot has been working since this month: Pepper.

Robot Pepper
could already receive people in the hospital, but is now also being used for a treatment program. The robot provides education to children who come to the PIPO clinic, a consultation hour for poo- and urinary problems. This allows the robot to support the medical staff: the repetitive part of the work of the nurse can thus be taken care of by the robot. But the hospital emphasizes that Pepper will never be used as a substitute for the doctor or nurse during a consultation.

The intention is that the robot will also be used on child day care and for older patients in the MMC.
