Extrema Outdoor in The Netherlands cancelled

Extrema Outdoor will not go ahead this year, the organisation of the Eindhoven dance festival announced.

According to the organiser, the festival cannot be presented the way the initiators would like. It is also difficult, with a new design, to find a place among the many other dance events, founder, Marcel Mingers, says.

“In 2017 we swapped our home base, Aquabest, for Holiday Park De Bergen in Wanroij. We noticed that it was a bit lifeless. With the move we wanted to reinvent ourselves, with a new formula, with which we focused on a new target group”, Mingers says. But that plan is not going well. “So we pulled out the plug. And it hurts. We have given way to a new generation of festivals.”

Mingers wants to go ahead with the editions of Extrema Outdoor in Mexico and Belgium, which have already sold out. His Extrema Network will also continue with the Solar and Mandala festivals.

Extrema Outdoor Netherlands (XONL) would have taken place on Friday, 6 and Saturday, 7 July this year. It has been a leading dance festival in the Netherlands for 20 years.
