Major works by Rembrandt, Steen and Picasso on display at Van Abbe Museum

Paintings by great artists such as Rembrandt and Jan Steen, and a statue by Picasso. They are on display at Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven as part of the exhibition ‘Tien Topstukken on Tour’ ( Ten major works on Tour).

The works of art arrived in Eindhoven last Wednesday. This was done without publicity at the request of the four participating museums who are lending the works. This was for ‘security reasons’, so the works could be displayed undamaged and unassumingly in the exposition rooms of the Van Abbe Museum.

The artworks will open for public viewing from this Saturday. Ten major works of art from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Kröller-Möller Museum will travel around the country for the exhibition. In Eindhoven, the works will be shown in the form of a sort of pop-up. This is remarkable because the Van Abbe is a museum of contemporary art and some of the works in the exhibition are over 400 years old.

The project is funded by Bankgiro Lottery. This is a partner of the Eindhoven museum.
