Police fire warning shot during arrest

On Thursday night the police fired a warning shot during an arrest on Boschdijk in Eindhoven. Officers wanted to apprehend a man who was threatening his ex-wife on the street near Marconilaan.

The officers were concerned that the suspect was possibly in possession of a firearm. The police succeeded in talking the man into surrendering himself in the Jumbo parking lot. During the course of these negotiations, a warning shot was fired.

The suspect had to lay down on the ground and was arrested. Many customers of the supermarket were witness to the arrest as they were leaving the shop.

Nobody was injured. It is unclear whether the police knew that the suspect was carrying a gun, or if witnesses informed them of this.

The police had to draw their weapons at an incident that took place last Tuesday in Best too. In this case, a man was shot in the leg.
