Wal in Eindhoven reopens after three months

The Wal in Eindhoven is completely open up again as of this afternoon. The road through the city centre was closed since June because of maintenance work on the bridge over the Dommel. Buses will be able to use the road again from Saturday.

Also the traffic lights on the crossing of the Wal with Grote Berg will return to their normal routine. Traffic control will handle the traffic during the last activities.

The situation on the crossing of the Wal and Bilderdijklaan will be completely different from now on. Motor traffic can only go straight ahead. The traffic lights have been removed and cyclists have right of way.

The Wal has been closed since 12 June for maintenance on the bridge over the Dommel. The bridge was originally built in 1928 and was not up to current demands and had to be completely overhauled. The closing caused quite a lot of traffic problems.
