OAE: Belgians staying away because of roadblocks

Businesses in the city centre, Geldropseweg and Stationsplein are losing business as a result of the many roadblocks and detours.

According to Ouderen Appel Eindhoven (OAP, local political Party for the elderly) especially Belgian daytrippers are avoiding Eindhoven. They cannot find their way because of the multitude of roadsigns and so go elsewhere. The same is true for the hospitality sector, says Ruud Bakker of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland (Hospitality Sector Trade Association). “Eindhoven has to take care its accessibility, or else people will stay away.”

The businesses are not happy with the poor communication by the city. They feel the city do not do enough to communicate about planned, and ongoing, work.

The OAP posed questions to the Executive Council regarding this.
