Night bus service axed after low passenger numbers

Night bus services from Eindhoven to other Noord-Brabant cities, Rotterdam, and Utrecht will stop after next month, the municipalities have decided.

The so-called Late Night Bus, part of an effort to provide reliable and affordable nightly public transport, was a weekend trial with services running between 02:00 and 04:00.

An evaluation found that there was insufficient demand for the service. During the pilot’s first year, an average of 150 passengers used Friday services, while Saturdays saw around 265 passengers.

The pilot started in December 2015 and was set to run for three years.
