Tech United tests new football robot

The TU Eindhoven is testing its newest football robot this week. The eight-wheel robot will make it’s debute at the ‘Middle Size League’ in Portugal against national and international teams.

The eight wheels of the new robot are considerably more than the three these robots have at the moment. The extra wheels give the robot more speed and better grip. It is also remarkably maneouverable, yet stable.

Tech United won the first two matches of the competition. On Thursday they beat the Minho team from Portugal with 3-0. Yesterday, ASML was defeated 0-4 by the Veldhoven Falcons.

TU Eindhoven and ASML are not the only teams from the Eindhoven region. VDL is also competing with ‘VDL Robot Sports’.  The final is on Sunday. You can follow the action live via Tech United’s official youtube channel.
