Come & have a ‘musical encounter’ at Catharinakerk

You are invited to come and listen to music from all over the world. What’s more, it is for a good cause.

The ‘Share Hope Musical meeting in the Catrien’ will be held on Sunday, 14 May, from 14:30 – 17:30 in the Catharinakerk. Entrance is free. This concert is being held to draw attention to, and show support for people who chose to stay in the Middle East, despite the war, in order to work towards a better future for all those living there.

The organisers hope to also draw attention to the possibility of cross-border co-operation. The concert features artists from Europe to the Middle East, playing instruments from the violin to the bandoneon, from folk to the classics. During the afternoon’s programme Esseline van de Sande (author of the book, “Ontmoetingen met Syriërs”) will tell of her personal experiences in Syria.

The programme will be presented by former City Poet, Piet van den Boom. The event is being organised by Werkgroep Eindhoven~Kobanê and the Vredesburo. After the concert, people will have the opportunity to speak to those involved in the work in Syria and traditional Middle-Eastern snacks will be available.

Donations are very welcome and will be used for the Hîvî school in Kobanê (‘Ayn al-`Arab). Hîvî means ‘hope’. This school was started by a local women’s group to help disabled children. They need support in order to provide better education and therapy for these often-forgotten children.

Information about the programme and the performing artists are available via the Werkgroep Eindhoven~Kobane’s Facebook page, the Vredesburo’s website and via info@eindhovenkobane.nl
