The explosion at the DAF factory was caused by a technical malfunction of a fork lift.
In the late afternoon a fork lift caught alight and as a result, nearby gas bottles exploded. This caused flames that were meters high, as seen on amateur footage.
None of the DAF employees were injured, and there was minimal damage to the factory.
The fire department eventually doused the fire. DAF is investigating the cause of the fork lift’s malfunction.
