Smart lighting of Philips Lighting should help Jakarta

Philips Lighting is going to improve the street lighting in Jakarta. All in total 90,000 street lights in the Indonesian capital ought to get smart LED-lamps.

At present the street lighting can not be switched on from a distance. By connecting the lamps with each other through a management system, it should become a ‘smart city’ in which everything is connected with each other.

This way the street lamps can be turned brighter or softer from a distance when there is a lot of or less traffic. In this manner Philips wants to make city life safer and more comfortable and the energy bill should decrease.

In seven months the project must be ready. It will come down to 430 lighting points to be installed each day.
