Anja Frieling ‘Eindhoven writing talent 2016’

There were 72 submissions, but the panel of judges under the chairperson and author Manon Uphoff found her story the best. The theme was life stories from the city (‘levensverhalen uit de stad’).

The prize money amounting to 500 euros was presented by the new Eindhoven mayor John Jorritsma. As well as the presentation of the booklet with five of the best submissions. Eindhoven author Henk van Straten read the stories out aloud to the audience.

And the best story: ‘Bonte Wa’s (coloured wash) was that of Frieling, the other stories were from Willy Driessen-Senders with ‘Boerenzoon’ (farmer’s son), Max Leenaerts with ‘Ars longa vita brevis’, Rosa with ‘De Kruisstraat’ and Linda Amendt with ‘Helmut en de struikelstenen’ (stumbling stones).

The award ‘Prijs voor Eindhovens Schrijftalent’ (prize for Eindhoven writing talent) is an initiative of the Eindhoven book store Van Pierre, Nat lab, Plaza Future, Eindhoven library and DELA. These parties are convinced that if the city has any writing talent, it deserves to be encouraged and discovered.
