COC begins with gatherings for gay refugees

The COC, (a Dutch organisation advocating the rights of lesbian women, gay men, bisexuals and transgenders, LGBT’s), in Eindhoven, will start with organising gatherings especially for the LGBT refugee community. The event will be called ‘Gay Refugee Walk-in’.

The reason for these gatherings, is to help this
vulnerable group of refugees. They often feel unsafe in a refugee centre and have a bigger chance of becoming socially isolated. The reason for their possible isolation, is that they miss their support network of family and friends. Therefore, according to the COC, it is extremely important for them to get in contact with the LGBT community.

The first gathering will take place on Sunday, 24 July 2016; it will be followed by Gay Refugee Walk-in gatherings, every fourth Sunday of the subsequent month. The gatherings will be held in Pand54, which is the COC’s location in Eindhoven, on Prins Hendrikstraat 54.
