Wiro Wok permitted to expand, local residents angry

Residents living near Wiro Wok in the district of Stratum are angry, now that the Asian restaurant has been given permission by the Municipal Council to expand.

Neighbourhood residents have been complaining for years about problems with parking and offensive odours. In an effort to limit the nuisance, a maximum of 150 diners was allowed, until recently. But now that Wiro Wok has been given a licence for almost 60 extra parking places, more than 300 diners can be accommodated.

With the new car park behind the restaurant, the Municipal Council sees no need to continue monitoring the situation. Residents don’t understand why. According to them, there is still a parking problem, and Wiro Wok has been favoured.

Wiro Wok was unavailable for comment today.
