Randstad Helps Job Hunters Over 50

The recruitment agency Randstad wants to help job hunter over 50, and has started a campaign called +POWER. They are organizing the +POWER boost events at 12 Randstad locations, and were in Eindhoven this Tuesday on June 14th. The kickoff was on 25 May in Den Haag with a 5km +POWER run to show how fit and active this group still is.

The event supports job seekers with workshops and a supporting program with a CV check, making a photo portrait by a professional photograph for your CV or Linkedin, dress to impress with style advise and help with making a good Linkedin profile. Randstad even has an online tool to generate your own infograph profile (in Dutch).

The Randstad workshop "Power of Experience" gave some useful tips using a Function / Branch matrix; what to do when looking for a job in the same or different function you worked in, and if you are looking in the same branch or a different one:
– Same function / same branch: use current terminology.
– Same function / different branch: increase your knowledge.
– Different function / same branch: get fitting experience and education.
– Different function / different branch: have warm network or develop your network in this different area you want to find work.
To acquire the relevant experience, another tip is to do an internship, which these days is not just for young students. It’s easier to find a new job from a working situation.

The other workshop was from the UWV (Employee Insurance Agency) about rules and regulations when receiving unemployment benefits. In North Brabant there were still 59.671 unemployed over age 50 registered with the UWV.

The remaining +POWER boost events will take place on 16 June in Enschede, 20 June in Lelystad, 21 June in Utrecht and the last one on 23 June in Den Haag.
